Christmas is COmmMMINg!!!

Have you been naughty or nice? Or else Santa won't be giving you any presents this yEAR! My gosh. It is already December...

So, anyways, I have been watching some movies lately, mainly, Twilight and Four Holidays...

Twilight was........

average.

The book is always so much better than the movie. Take, for example, Harry Potter. The books were so good (well, except the last chapter in the last book) but movie was just bleh.... I find that the book held more of my attention than the movie. The movie contained some really lame lines and Kristin Stewart can't act... I thought Alice and Jasper are cute in their own little way. Edward? HmmMm... Some parts he looks ok but some he looks just plain weird. Anyways, he is the perfect man. For those girls who love a little bit of fantasy romance, this four series book is pretty good. Worth the read.

I just expected so much more from them... Urgh... Ppl should never read the book before waching the movie.

Anyways, not a bad effort... C - ...

RIP Scruffy...

OK. I reckon no one will even read this space coz i haven't been blogging for a while...

Not much updates on my life. Tho I have sad news... My dog has just gone to doggie heaven. She had an ear infection which led to infection on her backbone. She was put down in Malaysia while I was here in AUstralia last Sunday, 26/10/08. I feel so sad... She has been with the family for more than 10 years now... I will never forget her. She is the smartest, cutest, naughtiest, most active dog I ever own... Words cannot explain how much she meant to me... May she rest in peace...

Isn't she just the cutest!?

Hot tom yam goong soup on a cold winter's day...

Remember I've posted a yummy looking soup picture in the previous post?? Ok. It was my first attempt at making tom yam goong and... SURPRISE SURPRISE... It tasted absolutely as Jamie Oliver puts it, DELISH! I just randomly took a recipe online and it turned out to be not too bad...

So, here is the recipe on those who might want to try making tom yam to warm ur hearts

250g shrimps/prawns
3 cups water
2 garlic cloves
5 kaffir lime leaves
3 thin slices fresh/dried galangal
1/4 cup fish sauce
2 stalks of lemon grass (cut into 2.5 cm lengths)
2 shallots
1/2 cup mushrooms, sliced
1/4 cup lime juice
1 tsp black chilli paste
1 tbsp coriander leaves
Few chillies
So, to cook it, it will be as easy as only 3 steps:
  1. De-shell prawns and rinse prawn shells. Add water into the pot and boil shells and discard the shells.
  2. Add garlic, lime leaves, fish sauce, lemon grass and shallots. Then mushrooms, chilli peppers. Cook for 2 minutes.
  3. Add shrimp and reheat. When cooked, place lime juice and black chilli paste in serving bowl.

O. One mistake I did was to overcook the prawns. Make sure that you absolutely do not put in the prawns until the last minute unless you want your prawns to be very chewy and hard. And also, all those ingredients are just as guidelines. My mother always taught me to never follow recipes 100%. Just a little bit more of that and a little less of that. It will have the perfect home cook meal taste.

Half yearly report...

OMG. June has come and gone. We are halfway to 2009... And I still haven't found a proper job. I need to get my lazy ass of the couch and actually start looking for a real job. I'm getting sick of mine... Urgh...

Anyways, Ken is home in Malaysia... Boohoo... I want to go home too.. That boy gets to go home every half a year.. Bloody air tickets are so damn expensive nowadays thanks to the rising fuel price. On the good side, I'm off to Gold Coast in three weeks' time! Visiting my brother and sister in law and also going to MovieWorld, DreamWorld and Seaworld. Thinking of going to SUnshine COast to Steve Irwin's zoo. Should I?

So, I'm getting too lazy to write about anything now... But here is a very very chubby Scarlett at 3 months old... She is starting to get very chatty and making all the adorable baby noises... Oh yeah.. Before I forget, congrats to Jeannie also for being an aunt last month (or was it this month?).. Time passes to quickly!

GaraMerica

Ok. New resolution. I'm going to at least try one new restaurant a week with Ken. Anyone interested to join me is welcomed! And also any new suggestions or where to eat would be much appreciated.

So, today, I tried this Indonesian restaurant @ South Melbourne called Garamerica. It basically means Salt and Pepper in Indon. I totally forgot to bring my camera to take some picS! Next time! Anyways, it was Ken's fault for not reminding me. Okok..Back to the restaurant. Ambience was good, service wasn't as fast as it could have been but there was only one person attending us and she was such a sweetheart.

Food was pretty standard Indonesian food. I had the Ayam GOreng which tasted pretty similar to AYam Penyet @ Garaj while Ken had the Ayam Bakar which was pretty tasty and something different to my opinion. HAven't seen one of those in other Indonesian restaurant. We shared a bowl of Rawon which was a beefy soup. That was just not bad. It had very little stuff in it.. Just a couple of chunky beef in them. But on the next table, they had something that looked like rojak which looks delicious...

Price was pretty standard too from $8 to the most expensive dish which was fish that would set you back about $25. But, overall, it was good dinner, very filling and we left that place satisfied.

Worth the go but it is rather far from the city...

Forgetting Sarah Marshall

Don't worry! No spoilers!

I love love love this movie! Witty, funny lines and not your typical chick flick movie... I really recommend this to everyone... Guys will love this show.. First, there is Kirsten Bell who is absolutely beautiful.... I love her dresses that she wore in the movie... And then there is that girl from the 70's show, Mila Kunis... She is absolutely adorable and hot... Although the boys are not so hot in this movie, they are hillarious!

So, what are you waiting for? Go watch the movie today! 9/10!
